“There is nothing to writing. You just sit down at the typewriter and bleed.”-Ernest Hemingway
Every time I try to sit down and explain myself in one of those generic, 500 word boxes, I end up feeling like I’m filling out a profile on some slightly frightening dating site. That hasn’t happened yet, thank God. But I do want to tell you a little bit about my self. (And I mean a little, because once I get talking, I never stop. Ever.)
My name is Marna, and writing is my passion. I can’t imagine a day going by when I don’t get inspired. I love being a writer because we see things in such a different way, and because when you’re really in the zone, sleep becomes something for the weak. I have a preoccupation with writing novels, though I’ve yet to complete one. I’m just learning to try my hand at short stories, and I turn out a few poems a week to read at my creative writing club. I’m an avid Wrimo, and I’m currently engaged in a torrid love affair with my Neo 2. I may or may not have a Tumblr addiction, and I love Pinterest because it’s a great visual aide for my current projects. (You can also find me on Figment.)
I believe in letter writing, and I also believe in Sherlock Holmes. I have several pen pals from different countries, and I like to believe that letter writing isn’t dead. I will quite literally read anything that you put in front of me, but my favorite writers are Edgar Allan Poe, Ernest Hemingway, F. Scott Fitzgerald, JK Rowling, James Patterson, John Steinbeck, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, and Stephen King. Peter Pan is my favorite children’s book, and East of Eden is my favorite novel.
I don’t watch a lot of TV, but Netflix might just be the greatest thing ever. Besides Nutella. My favorite shows are Criminal Minds, Castle, Sherlock, Downton Abbey, Leverage, QI, SVU reruns, and Rules of Engagement. I’m starting Supernatural and Doctor Who soon! I have an odd obsession with the JFK assassination, and JFK himself. His speechwriter is brilliant, and his oratory skills are outstanding!
I eat too much, I talk too much, I love too much…but I can never seem to write enough. Any questions, shoot me a comment!
Thank you for the light.
